This course is aimed at authors and beginner bloggers. This course will teach the basics of how to create a WordPress site without any technospeak!

Are you an author or blogger. Are you tired of not understanding what your fellow authors or fellow bloggers are talking about. Do you struggle to do even the most basic things on your site? Let me show you how to use your site using common language, directly applicable examples, and easy to follow instructions.

As this course is meant for people with little experience in these areas, I will make the assumption that your knowledge base with WordPress is minimal and will build from the ground up.

We will learn all the things that you need to know as an author or blogger to have a functioning site to support your blogging activities in a professional manner.

Requirements
Although you should have a self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site in place to practice the examples on, there are instructions on how to install WordPress on hosting at the beginning of this course.
You will need a computer and a connection to the internet and I always suggest a good cup of coffee

Understand the difference between wordPress.com and WordPress.org
Understand the basics of choosing a theme for a WordPress.org site
Know what Mobile Responsive is and how important it is
Know how to customize the dashboard as well as all other pages
Know how to manipulate all the basic settings of a WordPress site
Feel comfortable creating content - either posts or pages - including the inclusion of hyperlinks, images and videos
Understand the importance of Categories and Tags
Understand how the ideal post is formulated
Be comfortable manipulating images in the Media Library as well as creating users
Understand the addition and manipulation of a wide variety of plugins
Understand what Widgets are and feel comfortable adding images, text or code to the sidebar areas of a blog
Are comfortable creating custom menus
Understand what stats are important how to read the information that various services provide
Understand how to update and backup their site
Understand the basics of SEO with regards to their site
