It starts with a review of our robust "GRANT READY" checklist. This review will take you section by section through the list of preparations that will set you up to spend you efforts and time on processing your applications and not on constantly checking to be sure you have the minutia in order.

Once you know how to make your nonprofit "GRANT READY" you'll learn how to use the strategic planning and management tools. These tools provide storage for your most current data, to grab and insert in your proposals and budgets. They also provide the tracking records needed to keep your proposal moving through the writing, review and editing stages. In addition you'll have three different methods of evaluating your programs against funders and RFAs to identify the best fits.

At any point you can jump into the CQI/TQM for the Rest of Us course and learn the secrets of developing effective "specific and measurable criteria" by which to measure your programs' effectiveness. What isn't covered is that it won't teach you how to write a grant proposal.

You will have enough experience in grant writing, identifying RFPs that are closely matched to your NPO’s programs, and reviewing or approving content, to know all that is involved in submitting a grant proposal
You would benefit from gaining one or more of the following: • an organized, smooth-flowing grant management system • a method for organizing your grant management teams • a system for choosing the right grant, for the right project, at the right time, and in the right sequence • A need to become grant ready • and Grant makers can use this content to establish Grant-Ready standards for your applicant
You will have basic knowledge of Excel and an elementary understanding of the "IF" and "SUM" formulas to grasp the formulas used in the funder calculators.
Grant professionals who are new to grant writing may find the strategic planning sections challenging, but all other aspects of the system taught here will improve organization, management and planning at any level of experience
This is a beginner/intermediate level course, but still may be useful to experts who still have a few organizational improvements to make.
This course provides software templates needed in PDF, Word Doc, Excel and Filemaker Pro formats. You will need a PDF reader, a text or word.doc reading program, and software that reads Excel spreadsheets (OpenOffice will do this for Word and Excel files.) If you don’t have FileMaker Pro, there are equivalent forms in the Excel Workbook to hold this database information.
