Brief Introduction

Introduction to Disaster Relief

Description

All slides can be downloaded as a PDF from the SBCV Disaster Relief resources page.

This course will provide members of SBCV churches the minimum level of knowledge to respond to disasters in Virginia and across the United States.  This course includes basic disaster relief, incident command, various units and equipment and safety.  There is also a session providing various tools used in disaster relief evangelism.

The SBC of Virginia offers this training to equip members of SBC of Virginia churches so they are able to respond during times of disaster. Each training offers necessary instruction for volunteers to respond with other Southern Baptists around the world during times of disaster and crisis. The training is practical and allows those, 18 years old and above, to serve with confidence. Because of our partnerships with FEMA, Salvation Army, Red Cross, IMB, NAMB and other SBC State Conventions, we have a credentialing process that allows us to respond to the front lines of a disaster.

Upon completion of this online course, a classroom course is required to be fully credentialed. Training  events are offered across the Commonwealth; so, if a particular date does not work for you, there is another training within a couple hours drive.
