Operating your drone from a boat opens up a whole new world of opportunity for the professional and amateur drone pilot, but more skill is needed. In this practical course, you will join Capt David Carlos on board his vessel and see how to safety and legally operate your UAV in airspace, off a moving boat!
We start from initial flight planning and site survey, then go to boat safety. As the course progresses you will then learn more basic and more advanced skills especially related to launch and recovery tactics. The multi-rotor drone used in the lesson is the DJI Phantom 4A. The boat is a fully equipped, seaworthy 16 ft Hourston Glasscraft. The boat operator is Transport Canada Certified Lifeboatman Qualified in MED and SVOC MED A1, B1 and B2.
Hazards and risk factors are addressed as well as advantages of using your drone from a vessel.
