Brief Introduction

Why you need to understand the difference between the nose wheel and the tail wheel aircraft handling.

Description

Everything you need to know to fly this aircraft right here right now. You don't need tens of thousands in cash to learn what you need to know.

In the old days everyone learned to fly in tail wheel aircraft. But aircraft have evolved to become safer. So this course explains why. In early aircraft, a tail skid made of metal or wood was used to support the tail on the ground. In most modern aircraft with conventional landing gear, a small articulated wheel assembly is attached to the rearmost part of the airframe in place of the skid. Sometimes this wheel may be steered by the pilot through a connection to the rudder pedals, allowing the rudder and tail wheel to move together.

This course will explain why the aircraft evolved to use a nose wheel to replace the tail wheel almost completely.
