All of us have different reasons for practicing martial arts. For some it is the mental & physical discipline, for some the improved health, for some the self-defense aspects, and others simple because they love the practice.  Kung Fu is an art that has lasted for centuries and draws people from all different walks of life.  Many of today's martial arts systems have derived from Kung Fu.

In this course I will teach you the basic elements of this sacred art.  It was developed by monks, who observed and mimicked the deadly aspects of certain animals.  Kung Fu was originally made as a form of self-defense, a practical way to protect those traveling between towns.  It could also be used to protect the temple, should it come under attack.

Several forms of Kung Fu derived from the Shaolin Temple.  Choy Lee Fut is one of them.  In this course we will focus on the core aspects of Choy Lee Fut. Bruce Lee is quoted saying "Choy Lee Fut is the only style that traveled to Thailand to fight the Thai boxers that hadn't lost."  Also, "Choy Lee Fut is the most effective system that I've seen for fighting more than one person.  It is one of the most difficult systems to attack and defend against."

I, Sifu Myers, have been teaching this Kung Fu for 15 years.  My practitioners have won multiple gold medals in competitive fighting.  Choy Lee Fut is unique in that it is a low-to-the-ground style that focuses on developing power.  It is also more circular than other martial arts using more fluid movements.  This is the ideal type of style for those who want something that can practice on into old age since it is easier on the joints.

This course is not a complete system of Choy Lee Fut, but rather the core fundamentals.  These are generally taught over a period of 6 months to a year before going onto more intermediate techniques.  The focus is to develop strong foundational strength in ones legs and core.  This way one can deliver powerful techniques that will be effective in combat.
