Brief Introduction
To learn about basic concepts and topics of Information Systems quicklyDescription
This is an introductory yet intensive course on Information Systems, which will cover the major topics of Information Systems.
The course includes the fundamental concepts of IT / IS, basic knowledge of IT / IS, business applications of Information Systems and challenges of IS Management
The course may not cover every concept in Information Systems, but it would be good enough for university or community college students to overcome the Information Systems Management course (or its equivalent) in business school in freshmen level.
The course does not cover technical details of Information Systems and does not deal with coding.
In the end, I would introduce some hot topics in Information Systems. I hope it would help you doing the project.

- Ideally, students should know some specific terms of computer, but it will be explained in earlier part of the course.

- Explain the importance of Information Systems in doing business
- Explain the role of information systems in building competitive advantages
- Explain basic computer hardware concepts and their technologies behind
- Explain the basic features and trends in the major types of application software and system software used to support both enterprise and end-user computing.
- Explain key database management concepts and applications in business information systems.
- Present an overview of the Internet and other telecommunication networks, business applications, and trends, and reviews technical telecommunications alternatives.
- Describe how information systems integrate and support enterprisewide business processes, as well as different business functions
- Explain the role and advantages of Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Decision Support Systems(DSS)
- Explain the basic process components of e-commerce systems and discusses important trends, applications, and issues in e-commerce.
- Explain the importance of the strategic planning process in developing IT/business solutions and the implementation strategies necessary to consider when introducing new IT-based business strategies and applications into an organization.
- Explain the processes and managerial issues in the implementation of new business IT applications.
- Explain the threats against and defenses needed for the performance and security of business information systems, as well as societal impact and ethical implications of IT
- Discusses the major challenges that IT presents to business managers, the components of IS management, and the managerial implications of the use of IT in global business.
