Christian Hymns for Classical GuitarDescription
While there are many popular songs taught in similar way on various online platforms, I have hardly encountered teaching videos demonstrating hymn playing on guitar so far. Thus, I hope to contribute to meet a possible demand with this course. It is designed to help experienced guitarists to play hymns on classical guitar. At the example of the well-known Christian hymn "Amazing Grace," the student is guided step by step through the piece. Both melody and accompaniment are played together in two different keys and in different ways. A short modulation, jazz harmonies, and melodic embellishments are used to provide a special character. Over the whole course, all chords and harmonies are identified and explained on the basis of music theory. A basic ability to imitate fingerings and chord shapes from the video is therefore necessary. With various picking patterns for the right hand and advanced chord playing, the principles of harmony and music theory are applied to the classical guitar. The student learns to play in two key areas as well as to employ melody and accompaniment at the same time. Among the target students are hobby or amateur guitarists, worship leaders at churches, and college music students with a major, minor, or concentration in guitar, all of whom hopefully benefit with regard to their musicianship.
