This course was designed by three real estate professionals with a mission to create a complex and comprehensive real estate modeling course at an affordable rate.This course caters to individuals from all skill levels from beginners to more advanced professionals in the industry. This skills learned in this course can and will help you become confident modeling real estate projects in excel. By the end of this course, anyone should feel confident building complex commercial real estate models from scratch!
About the Course
Financial Analysis with Real Estate Modeling (FARM) is an online self-paced Microsoft Excel course geared towards commercial real estate. The course includes 6 levels that start with the absolute basics in Excel and progressively gets more difficult. Each level includes background pages that break down concepts, definitions, and key real estate metrics as well as a voice-over video recording that walks the user step-by-step through building a model from scratch. At the end of each level there is a quiz that tests the user’s comprehension of the material covered. The videos total approximately 5 hours in length and the course typically takes anywhere from 7 – 10 hours to complete depending on the user’s initial skill level. We know that we're a newer course on Udemy, but if you give a shot it will 100% be worth it!
Level 0 – Excel basics
Level 1 – Basic Unlevered Calculation
Level 2 – Unlevered and Levered Investment Property Analysis
Level 3 – Multi-Property Analysis with Various Amortization Schedules (Fully Amortized, Partially Amortized, Interest Only, etc.)
Level 4 – Advanced Property Analysis
Level 5 – All-Inclusive Case Study
About the Creators
Connor Kreis, James Barrios, and Mike Harris all met at the University of Florida in the Nathan S. Collier Master of Science in Real Estate program (MSRE) in the spring of 2019. One thing they soon noticed was that the real estate industry lacked effective and affordable training materials for in-depth real estate modeling in Excel - a crucial skill for students as they enter the industry. Connor, James, and Mike had collectively taken over 10 online Excel classes previously, but were unsatisfied with their formats, subject matter, and methods of teaching. They decided soon after that they would make it their mission to create a completely new self-paced Excel program specific to commercial real estate that could be utilized by students and professionals in the real estate industry. Today, the three work in lending, development, and private equity.
