Description
Course description
How can we best prepare students for life beyond high school? What are the primary limitations to post-secondary opportunity and what role can educators and counselors play in preparing students for post-secondary success?
College-Going Identity and Student Success is an online professional development program for K-12 teachers, school and college counselors, and non-profit college access professionals. Drawing from the research of Senior Lecturer Mandy Savitz-Romer, the workshop begins with an overview of the data and the current practices and conversation about college readiness and attainment. Participants will then learn about the process of identity development and its connection to college readiness and success, exploring the gap between students’ aspirations and expectations. Finally, participants will examine successful programs to discover steps they can take to support students throughout the K-16 pipeline.
