Brief Introduction

Your Secret Weapon to Get More Customers

Description

Our best customers come from word-of-mouth (from our network). Most jobs are filled by someone in a network (many are never posted). Learn a system to build, grow, and use your professional network to get more customers.

Operating a business is a challenge – even more so when you are a either as a solo entrepreneur (freelance professional) or have a couple employees. Not only do you design the products sold, but you also deliver, service, and market them. You have to account for the money: invoicing, collection, and paying all company bills. You are the C-everything: Chief Executive, Financial, Operating, and Marketing Officer.

You got into your business because you are good at solving a customer problem – you understand the solution. It may be you are a natural marketing person; for many, it’s an area where they lack confidence. That’s why I researched and created this course, Business Networking Fundamentals. In this course you will gain the skills you need to be comfortable in marketing your business through your professional network.

The 4-Ps of Marketing:

1. Product (your solution)
2. Price (the value clients place on your solution)
3. Place (how and where customers give you money for your solution), and
4. Promotion (how potential customers learn about your solution)

Promotion can be traditional advertising (print, radio, or television), digital (Facebook, Google Ad, or Social Media), and networking. Networking is the most cost-effective method to gain new clients, and is often misunderstood (often underutilized).

When I ask solo entrepreneurs and small businesses where they receive the majority of their clients, the response is, “word-of-mouth”. Most of our customers come from our network as referrals. If you spend anytime online, you will find many opportunities to advertise digitally. Digital advertising can be a good choice. We are often drawn to online advertising because it is presented as simple: post ads and get customers. Networking is hard. It is human nature to conserve energy and seek the simplest method; but it might not always be the most effective.

You solve problems for people and businesses and need to connect with more potential clients. Intentionally leaning into your professional network will lead to more referrals and customers.

James Clear (author of Atomic Habits) tells us, “Goals are good for setting direction, but systems are best for making progress.” I present a science-based system to build, grow, and use your professional network to get more referrals, customers, and grow your business.
